Welcome to Shadow-BoXX… a website of dreams and goals created by a high-school student for high-school students. Purpose of this website is to provide resources to other high-schoolers with aspirations to be a healthcare professional. Tools to learn more about careers in health care, expert advice from doctors and healthcare professionals, opportunities to Shadow a doctor and much much more.
Numa Yazadi is a rising senior in a public school in the bay area of Norther California. Aside from being a high shooler, she is a daughter to immigrant parents, a sister to two older brothers, a volunteer, a friend and a teenager growing up in sunny California. Her career goals are to be a healthcare professional with expertise in Plastic Surgery and Board certification in Anesthesiology. Aside from academics, she is actively involved in community service including volunteering at local hospitals (3 to be exact), a Girl Scout, and helping out at her mosque.
Numa quickly learned that building a strong resume to enter into a good med school is not an easy path. Like many high schoolers, she struggled to find mentors and opportunities to shadow doctors in their profession. Such opportunities and exposure to observe and learn hands-on have become even more hard to come especially in today’s COVID19 environment. While the current social distancing era has made it that much more challenging, she doubled her efforts and was determined to find the silver lining in the new normal. Her ambitions, struggles, efforts and determination have resulted in creation of this website, Shadow-BoXX with a single goal to help her fellow high schoolers wanting to pursue healthcare careers. Getting simple advice from doctors, to mentorships, to medical school resources, to shadowing, or to just chat with your fellow future doctors are some of goals of Shadow-BoXX.
